Get the pigeons out from under your solar panels.
The shaded gap beneath solar panels is a favourite nesting spot. Nests, droppings and feathers build up, block drainage and can damage cabling. A fitted mesh skirt closes the gap without affecting your panels.
- Every job includes
- Nest and droppings removal
- No-drill clip system
- UV-stabilised mesh
- Gutter check while on the roof
Understanding solar panel bird protection
Pigeons and mynas move in quickly once they find a gap, and they come back to the same roof. The noise, the mess on paths and the smell are usually what homeowners notice first. Underneath, debris traps moisture against the roof and can block water from draining.
We clear existing nests and debris first, then fit UV-stabilised mesh around the panel perimeter using clips designed for solar arrays, so the panels and rails are not drilled. Airflow under the panels stays open.
Do any of these sound familiar?
- 01Cooing or scratching noises from the roof
- 02Droppings on paths, windows or the car
- 03Twigs and feathers poking out from under panels
- 04Birds regularly landing on the array
- 05A drop in panel output you cannot explain
- 06Debris washing into your gutters
How we do it, step by step
You will know what is happening on your roof at every stage. We share photos as we go so nothing is hidden behind the gutter line.
See our work in the galleryLook under the array
We check how far nests extend and whether any birds are actively nesting.
Remove nests & debris
Nesting material and droppings are bagged and taken away.
Clean the area
The roof surface under the panels is cleaned so water can drain freely.
Fit mesh skirt
Mesh is clipped to the panel frames, with no drilling into the panels.
Final check
We walk the array perimeter to make sure there are no gaps left for birds to squeeze through.
Good to know
Act early
The earlier nesting is stopped, the less clean-up there is and the lower the risk of damage.
Panel warranties
Clip systems attach to panel frames without drilling, which helps protect your panel warranty.
Panel cleaning
We can also clean panels while we are up there. Ask when you request a quote.
Solar Panel Bird Protection FAQs
Will mesh reduce my solar output?
No. The mesh sits around the edges, not over the panel faces, and leaves airflow underneath.
Can you remove it for solar servicing?
Yes. Clip systems can be removed and refitted by your solar technician.
What if birds are already nesting?
We clear nests first. If there are active eggs or chicks, we will talk you through the safest approach.
